PI Forum: Multitasking in Science

Managing multiple grants at once can be a challenge. How to plan the projects? How to distribute work? And how to not end up with a burnout? We will discuss the these questions with Lucie Doležalová (Faculty of Arts, Charles University) and Peter Fabian (Faculty of Science, Masaryk University), moderated by Filip Kolář (Faculty of Science, Charles University).

What?

An informal space for meeting, networking, and sharing of experience among Principal Investigators working in Czechia, open to all those who hold an independent research group leader position in any scientific field, regardless of age, experience, institution, or nationality.

When and where?

17 June 2025 from 18:30, Skautský institut na Staromáku, room Ludvík (Staroměstské nám. 4/1, Praha 1 – Staré Město)

Our Guests

Lucie Doležalová

Professor Lucie Doležalová holds positions at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Humanities. Her research focuses on medieval scribes, obscure texts, and the art of memory.

She currently leads the projects THEEND (Innovation and Inertia: The End of Medieval Scribes, ERC CZ) and “It is finished. Pour wine, Lady Anna.” Linguistic Experiments in Medieval Scribe’s Notes and Colophons (GAČR). She also plays a key role in the projects CoRe (Beyond Security: The Role of Conflict in Strengthening Resilience, OP JAK) and ANTIDOTE (Advanced Training in Digitization of Older Texts, Erasmus+ KA2). Her project PAMELA (Papyri and Manuscripts: Exploring Layers of Ages, Horizon SE) has recently secured funding.

In addition to her academic work, she manages three children, supervises PhD students, conducts research, and teaches.

Peter Fabian

Based at Masaryk University in Brno, Peter is a group leader investigating how cells and signals influence skeletal development, primarily using zebrafish as his model.

Following his postdoctoral research in the U.S., he returned to Czechia with a clear aim: to establish an interdisciplinary team and cultivate a highly collaborative research environment, both within his lab and across the broader scientific community.
