Keynotes
We are pleased to welcome two keynote speakers: Petra Hájková, Professor of Developmental Epigenetics at Imperial College London, also Senior Group Leader and Deputy Director at the MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) and Julia Leventon, Professor and environmental social scientist and Head of Department of Human Dimensions of Global Change at CzechGlobe, Czech Academy of Sciences. Both speakers will share their inspiring stories, in line with this year’s topic “Global Science in the Local Context.

Panel Discussion
An engaging panel discussion with interesting guests Vladimír Beneš, Johana Kotišová, Joseph Feinberg and Eric Glowacki talking about how to do world class science within the local environment. Moderated by Pavla Hubálková.

Discussion Tables
At the discussion tables, you will get to discuss a number of topics related to research and science more generally, as well as meet key figures from various facets of the scientific world – grant experts, representatives from companies and institutions, science communicators, and many more.

Networking
This year’s conference will once again offer number of opportunities for informal networking and sharing global experience in the local context.

To join online, please register by purchasing a free online ticket via GoOut. You will receive the access links shortly before the conference begins.
The main part of the programme (opening, keynote lectures, panel discussion and closing remarks) will be livestreamed via MS Teams. Networking will take place on ZOOM in breakout rooms, with several themed virtual discussion tables and one open networking table.

WHO IS THE CONFERENCE FOR?
Our traditional Christmas Conference – formerly known as Konference pod stromeček – is held in English for the first time in line with our mission to open, reflecting our mission to make Czech science more open to the world.
The Czexpats in Science Christmas Conference brings together everyone connected to Czech science, at home and abroad.
- Czech scientists working abroad returning home for the holidays,
- Researchers who have already returned – their experience can inspire others,
- Scientists preparing to go abroad – the future Czexpats, full of questions and plans,
- Czech scientists wanting to connect with the international community,
- International researchers in Czechia – offering valuable outside perspectives,
- Students studying abroad – the next generation of Czexpats,
- Institutional representatives helping to connect Czech and global science.
CHILDCARE
We’re happy to offer professional childcare provided by Andělín for children aged 2 to 12, available throughout the whole event.
To help us prepare the best possible setup, please let us know if you’ll be coming with your children – and share how many and how old they are.
